Flash, SCORM, and the LMS

Recently, I've engaged in a project to connect a fully-functioning, self-contained, Flash-based e-Learning course to our LMS. In doing the initial research for this, I was pretty horrified at some of the comments and misdirections on some popular Flash forums. Posts like this one at Kirupa seemed to be all too common. Then there are some more subtle explanations, like this one at Ultrashock. Even this one from ActionScript.org wasn't very helpful.

Help!

There seems to be a lot of banter about doing Flash courses with SCORM, but not a lot to back it up. I haven't even found any decent tutorials, none that were free at least. There's gotta be a way to do this, I thought to myself. Why is it such a pain in the arse?

Well, it turns out that after a couple of days' worth trodding through forums, downloading tools that allow you to create XML manifest files, there doesn't seem to be a good, straightforward way of doing this.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, please do so!

I am in the same boat here. I was just hired as a flash designer without them telling me my main job would be doing SCORM/LMS with Flash and doing "builds" in a versioning software app called Eclipse. There seems so be soo many files they want me to include such as external AS code libraries and multiples of XML and XSL files.

There does not seem to be a working project here I can even attempt to reverse engineer. So therefore I went and spent days within google just trying to piece together some sort of idea of what all this does and to how to make it work and without too much luck other then some companies promising a plug and play system for several thousand dollars and when you look at the preview of what is included... it doesnt appear that it would work for my specific requirements so therefore doesnt make enough sense to me to go out on a limb and plead that my company purchase such a system for me.

What does a newby do when they have lots of flash experience and wants to build all lessons and menus and the like within flash but make it work with SCORM and various LMS systems for different builds for different clients?

Greatly appreciate your help.
