In Case You Didn't Know

Well if you haven't been combing through the usual Mac-related blogs and news wires, Microsoft has officially announced that it's Mac Business Unit will stop developing IE for Mac as of December 31, 2005. This comes as no surprise, since the latest version is 5.2.3, way behind the current Windows version. When Apple announced Safari and Firefox gained a lot of attention amongst the Mozilla-based user group, IE was pretty much doomed on the Mac platform. Without any serious major releases and bug fixes, IE has been a particular bain for web developers. IE sucks, but it's really bad on the Mac platform and held back a lot of potential advancements in site development on that platform for the afformetioned reasons. Now that it's going away though, I wonder if all those /* IE hacks for Mac */ will disappear? What do you think?
