Correcting Images Shot with Flourescent Lighting

Recently, I had the task of taking some images of office personnel for work. I used a Nikon Coolpix digital camera shooting the subjects in the office. The only light other than what was coming in through the windows, was the overhead flourescent lighting. All of the images turned out to be pretty green. Using Photoshop's Auto Color adjustment didn't work. Even hand correcting the color cast using the Color Sampler Eyedropper and a Curve's adjustment layer didn't take care of it.

Since the problem has to do with color, either Hue/Saturation or Color Balance would be my next choice and Color Balance is what really fixed the issue. A little research on correcting images shot under flourescent lighting conditions yielded this information: from photo.net. Turns out that the green hue can be defeated by pulling the Magenta/Green slider in the Color Balance dialog closer to Magenta. It's also recommended to pull the Cyan/Red slider closer to red. I did that and here's the amazing results:


Now if I can find an easy way to isolate the subject and get rid of that awful panelling background!
